My services.

  • Pelvic Health Physio

Pelvic health physio is concerned with the function of the pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, bowel), the muscles, connective tissues and bones, and their interplay with all other body systems.

Pelvic physio helps to address issues including urinary or fecal incontinence, voiding disfunction, difficulty passing bowel motions, painful sex or sexual dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain and musculoskeletal injuries and pain in the area.

Assessment and treatment options include internal pelvic floor assessment, external and internal mofascial release, thorough bladder/bowel function education, and lifestyle and activity modifications

  • Internal Pelvic Release

Internal Pelvic Release Work (IPRW) involves the gentle but deliberate massage of the muscles and connective tissue (fascia) within and around the pelvis, via the vagina. IPRW restores the optimal quality of the tissues, creates space within the pelvis, and empowers you to achieve your pelvic health goals at any age and stage of womanhood. Understanding anatomy of the pelvis, pelvic floor and pelvic organs.

IPRW helps with preparing the body for birth, post-partum healing (perineal trauma and c-section scarring), traumatic or repetitive injury or chronic pain (particularly of the hips, lower back, pelvic joints or coccyx), bladder and bowel conditions, painful sex and menstrual pain.

  • Pregnancy Care

Your changing body during pregnancy can impact bladder, bowel and sexual function and give rise to a multitude of discomforts and pains. While common, pain in pregnancy is not “normal”, and in most cases your symptoms can be reduced or even alleviated.

This care combines massage/bodywork, detailed education, individualised pelvic floor exercise and relaxation, and determine which (if any) support garment will help you.

Pregnancy care also includes teaching breathing techniques for labour and birth, active labour and effective pushing, and preparing for post-partum. I help you to problem-solve and modify your activity and lifestyle to keep you doing the things you love and optimise your whole-body wellness

  • Birth Preparation

Education about the pregnant body, birth physiology, and what to expect post-partum, helps the pregnant person make informed decisions and have an empowered and positive birth experience.

These extended appointments are designed to complement midwifery-led birth education or sessions through your primary care provider. The information covers the “before, during and after” of birth, and is tailored to your pregnancy, your birth preferences, and your unique enquiries.

Education topics may include pelvic anatomy, managing aches an

pains, optimal maternal-foetal positioning, bladder/bowel symptoms, preventing perineal trauma, physically preparing for vaginal or cesarean and pain management strategies.

The time is yours, so you may choose to combine some birth education with other modalities, such as internal pelvic release work or pre-natal yoga.

  • Post-partum care

The early days and weeks after birth with a newborn are, for some, the greatest challenge in your childbearing years. That’s why I prioritise time for you, perhaps visiting you in your home, or arranging a Telehealth appointment, to make sure you don’t have to go it alone.

I guide you on perineal care and wound healing, support garments, toileting, deep breathing and gentle activation exercises, and safe mobility in the early days. In collaboration with your midwife or lactation consultant, we can help with blocked ducts or mastitis using therapeutic ultresound and lymphatic drainage massage.

Six to eight weeks postpartum is a common time to visit a pelvic health physio for a general check-up. This appointment may include a pelvic floor or abdominal assessment, and guidance on returning to exercise.

Your whole mind-body-pelvic health in this period is of huge importance, and my support is here should you choose it.

  • Pilates and Rehabilitative Exercise

Movement-based physiotherapy includes all stretching, strengthening and mobilising motion prescribed for the benefit of relieving your symptoms. It may involve therapeutic yoga, pilates-style exercises, weights-based strengthening or cardiovascular exercise.

For return to running or higher-lever sport, I offer a graduated management plan based on practice guidelines to safely support you and your pelvic health.

Peri-natally, post-surgically or simply when you wish to increase your physical activity, I combine my physio, yoga, pilates and clinical exercise experience to get you back to the feel-good movement that you love.
